Strictly Dine and Dance Ball
Steve co-hosted the Strictly Dine and Dance Ball at Newcastle Gateshead Hilton with TV Presenter and journalist Kim Inglis.
The event was in aid of St Oswald's hospice which this year celebrates it's 25th year anniversary. It featured many of the regions familiar faces from the world of sport, news & radio. The guest dancers were; footballer John Beresford, Metro FM's Anna Foster, boxer Glenn McCrory, Real Radio's Lisa Shaw BBC's Jeff Brown, Alfie Joey, Hannah Bayman and Colin Briggs. The show was superbly staged and choreographed by Hayley Conway of the Encore Dance Entertainment Group.
 
“Steve was a terrific host, funny at the right times, clever, witty and really really kept the show moving. The event was extremely technical and took a great deal of co-ordination by the hosts, and Steve rose to the challenge without a flicker. He even dropped in a song for us at the end of the show. He was professional, did extremely well at selling both the Heads and Tails and the Auction and worked well with his wonderful co host Kim Inglis. “I was so impressed with Steve I have already booked him for next year’s event"

Music came from the excellent Paul James Band. Steve regularly fronts the band when Paul is asked for a male vocalist. He sang a number with the band to welcome guests onto the floor after the competition.

Guest judges were; Executive Councillor's of the Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association Michael Conway and Mavis Whiteside, BBC Newcastle Midmorning Presenter Jonathan Miles, and star of ITV's Emmerdale, and one of the region's favourite actresses - Charlie Hardwick.
Look North's Jeff Brown was crowned St Oswald's Strictly Star. He is pictured below with his partner - Gemma Senior. John Beresford and Anna Foster were Runners Up.

The event raised almost £60,000 for St Oswald's. Steve hosted the heads and tails, and also the auction. The event was such a success, people were asking if they could book for 2012! Watch this space for details of next year's event. Steve would like to say a big thank you to St Oswald's Community Fundraiser Amy Wilson and her team. He would also like to thank Kim, who was a great co-host.
