“Steve
Walls was a big success two weeks before this event, when he compered
one day of the Showcall Showcall II event at Park Hall near Preston.
Continuing his good work here, Walls gave a quality performance
in the compere role, proving that patience is a virtue and confirming
that covering for other people’s mistakes is very much part
of the role. Walls could be a natural successor to Tufty Gordon,
if ever Tufty decides to hang up his saxophone”

"Compere
Steve Walls did a first class job and seemed very natural and true
to the role, which surely must be to sell the acts on show to the
audience. Walls is a real asset to any show that he appears in and
the superlatives that he used to describe the acts - 'superb' and
'brilliant' came up to describe virtually every act - only demonstrated
his keen and conscientious approach."

"With Steve Walls as his brother Billy, the humour and slapstick are well executed. Geordie Walls is brilliantly cast and performs with experienced confidence"

Most
audiences at showcase sessions usually need the showbusiness equivalent
of jump-leads to be attached by the compere to get them in the collective
swing of things, and maybe just more to the point signify that the
entertainment is really underway. To that end and throughout the
evening, compere Steve Walls proved an excellent compere, in fact
his was one of the best compering performances seen for a fair while.

Walls then had a few minutes to remind us that he is an fine singer
